The Brown County Chapter of Pheasants Forever works to improve pheasant and other wildlife habitat within the borders of our county. Pheasants Forever's (PF) unique system empowers county chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100% of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent. PF and its sister organization Quail Forever are the only national conservation organizations that operate through this truly grassroots structure. As a result, grassroots chapter volunteers are able to see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy.

This is a unique distinction. Public land acquisition has been a high priority for the Brown County Chapter, who have participated in fifteen acquisitions totaling 814 acres. These acquisitions then become open for public hunting as Minnesota DNR Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) or U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Waterfowl Production Areas (WPAs).

Brown County PF is also active in habitat projects on private land. Since becoming the 166th PF chapter in the nation in 1988, the Chapter has planted 56,345 trees in 40 wintering areas creating nearly 679 acres of associated food plots. The chapter has also worked to improve 991 acres of nesting habitat on 51 different projects. In addition to habitat projects, the chapter plays an important role in youth education.

Brown County Pheasants Forever raises funds primarily through its annual membership and fund raising banquet which is typically held the 3rd Saturday in March. We have just concluded our 21st annual banquet and are ready to get back to the task of conservation. _____________________________________________________________________________
